A customer was commissioning a new 45 MVA power transformer delivered by an overseas manufacturer. During the test, ADWEL's Digital Winding Resistance ReporteR, DWR-10, was consistently issuing a warning of current interruptions, and did not complete the test. Another DWR-10 instrument was used with similar outcome. All other standard measurements, including TTR, Tan-Delta and insulation resistance indicated acceptable resistance value.
Nevertheless, the customer drained the oil and inspected the transformer to detect that the windings on all 3 phases were not properly secured to the bushings. Had the transformer been energized, a catastrophic failure could have occurred.
In March of 2008, Iris Power LP relocated its center of operations from Toronto to the City of Mississauga. To celebrate this move and introduce the new facility to our family and friends, Iris hosted an open house in June 2008. The event was attended by the mayor of Mississauga, Hazel McCallion, and the local MPP, Dr. Kuldip Kular.
In addition to a tour of the new facility, and a meet and greet with local politicians, there was also good food and great fun for everyone . A face painter and a circus troupe were on hand to entertain and amuse the young, and the young at heart.
